If I were to list the top 5 things I’m passionate about it would look a lot like this:  1) Animals 2) Photography 3) Travel 4) Fitness & Health 5) Trying new things!

With that said, my blog will be mostly covering those 5 topics.

This one covers 3 of them in fact.  Animals, Photography AND Travel.

We headed over the US of A in February on our Honeymoon.  We visited Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Canada (Banff & Jasper), NYC, The Bahamas & then San Diego on the way home.

We only had 2 full days in San Diego (we stayed 2 nights but arrived late on the first night).  I didn’t have high expectations, from what I’d heard it wasn’t particularly memorable but we wanted to see it for ourselves and we really didn’t want to spend more time in LA as we’d seen it 3 times already over the last few years.  I knew there were some seals to see, and Aidan knew there were MANY, MANY micro Breweries – so we were in!

We landed when it was dark and holy moly, what a pretty night time cityscape to land in!  On the first day we explored the Seaport Village (so cute –  loved it there), rode bikes all along San Diego Bay (I think it’s growing up in WA, we seem to always head towards the water!), and visited a fair few of the cool bars and restaurants in the Gaslamp Quarter.  We hopped on the Ferry and visited Coronado which was quiet but oh so pretty.

The next day we got up early and headed out to La Jolla, which FYI is pronounced “La Hoya” (as our uber driver told us in fits of giggles after I asked him to take us to La Jolla)!  The locals told us we might not see many Seals or Sea Lions as it was really overcast and a bit drizzly but we had NOTHING to worry about!  Next time, we’re taking our bathers and snorkels – I couldn’t believe how relaxed they were around us.  There was a man snorkeling through the bay and the most gorgeous flubby Seal followed him inquisitively the whole time!  I was very jealous and had we not been flying out later that day I would’ve jumped in in my jeans and ugg boots!

Here’s some of my favourite shots from our couple of hours watching them do their thing.  My mouth hurt from smiling by the time Aidan dragged me away.

So, there are both Seals and Sea Lions at La Jolla.  Seal Lions have external ears while the Seals don’t! (Please correct me if I’m wrong on that!)

Based on the extrenal ear theory, I’m going to say these guys are all Sea Lions 🙂

Whereas this gorgeous little one must be a Seal.  He/She was SO close to us and lay there for about 10 minutes just watching us calmly.  I could’ve easily brought him home with us!

Personally I would visit San Diego again before I’d go back to San Francisco or Los Angeles 🙂  It’s also only a short drive to the border in Tijuana which we will definitely be crossing next time we visit 🙂

We met Charlie and her people late on a Summer afternoon.  The second her little body jumped out of the car I KNEW this shoot was going to be amazing.   Charlie was adopted by her two amazing humans when her first owner moved house without her.  She scored!

Shelley Foreshore was Charlie’s Mum’s suggestion, and it was PERFECT.  An ideal Petography Adventure location has variety, and Shelley Foreshore delivered.  A tree lined footpath along the river, a gentle riverbank entrance so little legs (Charlie and myself haha) could enter the water safely PLUS a huge Jetty the sun sets behind!

Enjoy a little taste of what our afternoon looked like with this gorgeous girl.

This last shot is my personal favourite.  We had finished shooting, but then Charlie wandered back into the water and then the sky happened. . I always say the Dogs set up the best shots for us!

I met Beau & Etsy with their people bright and early one March morning in a paddock in Wanneroo, WA.  They both frolicked slowly exploring our photography set while we waited for the first rays of sun to warm us up.  Beau & Etsy’s collection of images are the PERFECT example of how much we should welcome some light cloud cover at our shoots!  These 2 pups are every bit as gorgeous in nature as they look in these images!  Etsy actually answered a model call for Petography earlier this year and she’s now one of the gorgeous face promoting ENJO Australia’s awesome new Heidi Howls Pet Range!

Alyce was given a Petography Gift Certificate for her birthday from her older sister.  We headed down to the lovely Fremantle to get a mix of beach shots as well as a funky mini doggie fashion shoot with some graffiti!  You’d never imagine this shoot was in the middle of winter!

You know you have the BEST clients ever when you tell them they should try & get the Smacko too . . and they do 🙂

I first met Corinne in 1995 when we were in primary School together.  Our friendship through the teenage years was a blur of fun, food & more laughter than you can ever imagine.  Corinne is one of THOSE people.  Those people who ALWAYS seem to be having the BEST time, no matter what they’re doing!  The truth is she’s not faking it.  She truely is more than a pleasure to be around – she has an enviable laugh that you know is coming from the most genuine of souls, and her new husband has secured himself a lifetime of pure joy & happinness with this amazing woman that manages to make everyone’s life that little bit richer, just by knowing her.

After photographing her gorgeous kids with their new puppy Bruce (almost 2 years ago now) I was so incredibly honoured when Corinne & Greg asked me if I’d consider shooting their special day – and I’m so proud they’ll treasure these images forever xxx

Corinne got ready at her parents beautiful home in Jindalee with her family and her two beautiful little girls.

I love this next shot . . .if only we all felt this fabulous after a quick coat of lip gloss 😉

Little Caitlyn & Maddie were so very brave walking down the aisle in front of everyone. See if you can pick the moment Caitlyn spots her Dad at the end of the aisle 🙂

Rin & Greg, I wish you a marriage FULL of love & laughter – it was an absolute honour to share your amazing day with you xxx
